FAQ
What Should I Expect During My First Session?
It is completely normal to be nervous about your first session! Please rest assured that your first session will go completely at your own pace. The first session is considered an intake and provides an opportunity for you to ask any questions about the therapeutic process. During the session, I will also ask some questions about what your day-to-day life looks like. I will ask about your family, work life, and any interests you might have. We will also touch upon some of the challenges you are currently going through. As this is a new relationship, it is okay to say that you are uncomfortable sharing certain details right away. Towards the end of the session, we will discuss what your treatment might look like going forward and come up with treatment goals together.
Child Session:
If your child is under the age of 12, the first session will be with just the parents. We will discuss any concerns you have regarding your child. Be prepared to answer questions regarding developmental and academic history. We will also discuss prior treatments and approaches employed by professionals and yourself. Have handy any psychological/education reports and their latest IEP. We will also discuss what your child’s treatment might look like going forward and set up some treatment goals.
Teen Session:
Teen sessions usually start off together with the teen and parent. Normally these sessions are split in half so that the teen can have the second half of the session to themselves in private.
Will I have to Take Medications?
Licensed Mental Health Counselors do not prescribe medications. Determining if medication is right for you is an individual decision that should be made carefully and in conjunction with your therapist. I am honest with my client’s when I think medication is warranted and discuss this with them. At that time, I provide referrals to local providers for an evaluation and possible medication management. I also consult with the treatment provider to ensure the best possible treatment occurs.
Do You Accept Insurance?
I am in network with the following non medicaid/medicare plans: Aetna, United Healthcare, Oxford, Cigna, and Oscar Health. I will have to verify your benefits to ensure eligibility of your specific plan.
If you have another insurance provider you still might be able to be reimbursed for my services if you have out of network benefits. I will provide you with a superbill at the end of each month when requested. This could be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement if you have out-of-network coverage. I encourage you to contact your insurance company to inquire about your out-of-network benefits.
If you are unable to wait for reimbursement, I utalize a service called Advekit which will allow you to input your insurance information and only pay the percentage of what your out of network benefits require you pay. The cost for this service varies depending on your isnurance, so you will have to enter your information to recieve specifics about what you will need to pay each session.
What Are Your Fees?
I charge $125-155 for 45 minute sessions.
